ROSEMARY McCANN
Statement of Goal: Art has always
been my passion, especially oil French
Quarter when I was young and I would
be fascinated by the artists that painted
around Jackson Square.  In the sixties I
bought two large, framed, French
Quarter scenes from an artist named
Raymond Scully who painted in the
Square.  One was a wedding present for
my sister who lives in Florida, and the
other was for me.  I remember paying
$35.00 for each of them.  I still have it
hanging in my home and admire it
everyday.

Taking action: Several years ago I
joined the
Kenner Leisure Services
Program called
Paint for Fun.   I really
have no drawing ability or art education
and was amazed how much fun I was
having.  I was  pleasantly surprised with
my first oil painting.  After that I was
hooked and wanted to paint everything I
saw.  Artists who are self taught seem to
develop their own sense of  style and
technique that uniquely seems to fit in
with other artists.  This is what makes
the world go around, just loving what
you do, and learning something new
each and everyday. It really brings that
old saying into a new light, “different
strokes for different folks.”

Statement of Purpose: I am in awe of
the great talent that surrounds me in this
Art Guild and my hope is to learn just
one thing from each one of these
amazing and exceptionally gifted artists.
It is an honor and a  privilege to belong
to the Guild and I’m looking forward to
becoming friends with all of the members.
