Robert Abbott. I grew up in California
and other points west, where my father
studied art and took the family to
countless art opportunities, myself being
the subject of many portraits.
Relocation: We came to Slidell, father
was also an engineer with the space
program.
Education: I studied art at LSU,
Tulane and Delgado, earning a B.A.
degree from Southeastern La University.
Personal: I married fellow artist, Dennis
D'Anna whom I met at Southeastern and
who has supported all my artist
endeavors. I earned a teaching certificate
from St. Mary's Dominican College and
taught art and other subjects in public
and private schools intermittently from
1974 until 2007, taking time off to raise
three daughters, Shannon, Heather, and
Rebecca.
The Future: I've retired from teaching
in schools and with my newfound time,
I've joined the Jefferson Art Guild,
Metairie Art Guild, Le Petit Art Guild,
and New Orleans Porcelain Art Guild.
Mediums: My work includes paintings
in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, murals,
drawings in various media, sculpting in
clay and ceramics by hand and on the
wheel, and a little print work. Obviously,
the product of years of teaching in many
media, and with the hope of producing
many new objets d'art.
